The New River and Sissy!!!

The past couple of weeks has been just beau-ti-ful around here and my sweet husband treated me to a visit to see my Sissy!

This is my sis and young un'. That's the New River Bridge in the back ground. It is a real engineering feat but I won't get into that today.

This is my hubby-I think he was a happy as me to get out in beautiful WV. We use to travel all over WV and camp, but we have my mom living with us now and she isn't able to camp so we have put that part of our life on hold for a while.

Sissy was so happy to see us. She works for a rafting co. and this is getting ready to be a really busy time for her. This is starting of the Gorge season where the white water is some of the best in the world right here in WV...can you believe it?It's true!
Even G Ma had a good day. The country is really beautiful in this area and we appreciated every moment we were there.

Have a great day everyone and blessings to all.P

Halloweenie Apron

So I thought I would share the apron I made for the apron swap over at Mary Janes Farms.

The bottom plaid part is homespun and the rest is calico.

I have to admit this was the first time I did machine applique but am rather pleased how it came out

Kathy told me she liked it and that is all that really matters to me.

I love this apron pattern and am planning on making myself some off of it.

This side has leaves on it.

Fall pinkeep

So over at MaryJaneFarms farmgirl connection we are having a pinkeep swap. The only requirements were fall themed. Here is the one that I made for my swap partner. It is made out of cotton and lace. For the ribs of the pumpkin I used twine to sorta give it an earthy feel. The leaves and tendrils of the pumpkin are felt and fleece.I love how mixing the different textures gave it a cool modern feel to a rather old fashioned pattern.

My darling hubby turned the spindle it sits on by himself and I painted and stained it.I added the ribbon to give it even more flair.

I must admit I rather like how it came out...hope my partner likes it too!!!

We cranked and cranked some more...I should be saying they cranked some more as I only took a couple of turns....
it was so hot and the ice cream freezer was so cold....

and the sidewalk got so wet...

and when we got near the freezer the temp just seemed to go down a few degrees...

we even managed a few smiles along the way....

and then the turning got harder and we really had to struggle....

The Running of the Roses...part deux

Well, my Rosie's little sister (we call her Junior) couldn't stand all of the attention her big sis was getting so she started to make her own statement today!! Isn't she beautiful? She smell's just like that Rose powder we use to get at the Woolworth store.

She is on the opposite side of the porch and so I have a little competion between these two as to who is going to out do the other. I love them both though.
I just love the way my hosta's and Peony look this year. There is a small mock orange plant under the window in this garden. I planted it there so the smell would waft through the windows into the front room of our house. In the morning it is such a lovely way to start the day.
Well, I thought I would share this with you all. Have a lovely week-end and God Bless.

May Flowers!!!

Remember the old saying...April showers bring may flowers? Well, let me tell you they did!!!

Here is my rose bush that is just a toddler really, she is three years old.

I have been waiting to snap some pictures of her and yesterday I got my chance.

I know I haven't been keeping up on my blogging lately and really I have no excuse other than I have been waiting....waiting for something to happen. You see, I believe in magic and I have been waiting on the "magic."

Well yesterday there it was, staring me right in the eye. See the picture of the rose with the sky as her background? That is totally untouched..I thought it looked like she was praising God for the wonderful day He had given us. So I took the picture and yes, that was my magic. What is your "magic?" Do you believe in magic?

Spriiiiiinnggggg!

So I think I had a brain fart on Friday when I tried to post this. I went on a lovely walk and found these flowers around the side of my house.Aren't they pretty? I just love to find surprises like that.

Yes spring has finally arrived and the week-end was lovely.

I am planning my annual Spring cleaning fest tomorrow and so I will spend today picking up and putting everything out of my way.

I can remember my mom-in-law coming up and helping me with the cleaning when we had the big house. What a chore...it was awful. But the visit from her was so lovely.I miss her terribly. She was such a great lady.

Better get busy tomorrow will be here before I know it...

Have a blessed day everyone...Pam

dreaming a dream

Well gosh, it has been a very lonnnng time since I have visited. Isn't that picture lovely? It is a place in Ireland and well with St.Patrick's Day just around the corner i have been dreaming of Ireland.

You see I want to go there and live there and just be. I have wanted to do this since I was about four years old and my dear sweet auntie told me a story about a leprechaun. I have always been fascinated by leprechauns. The whole pot of gold under the rainbow thing.Wonderful!!

This year I have even started a tiny little fairy village that I am going to put out in my front yard under the azalea bush. If a leprechaun should happen by it will be more than welcome to stay there. I am in the process of making some tiny houses for my village. I will plant some small mosses and other shade loving plants around the village and it will look magical.

Well, have a happy St. Patrick's Day! Have a blessed day.

Good day everyone!!!March is finally here and I love it. Even though It has come in a lion (very cold here)-I know that only means that it will be going out as a lamb!

Isn't funny how this usually works out right? I can hardly remember a time when it didn't. I found this picture on flicker and thought it was too cool.

I am still working on bunnies as I had a death in the family (dear Aunt Virginia) and didn't much feel like sewing. Aunt Virginia gave me my love of quilting. I can remember going over to her house and she always had a quilt going on in her frame. She would sit and quilt and we would get under the frame and play like it was a secret hiding place. Good times, good times. She will be missed.

I think I will make a quilt in her honor. I haven't decided what pattern yet , maybe some kind of flower. She was also the lady who took care of the flowers for our church every Sunday. She had the most beautiful flowers and would pick lovely boquets every week and bring them to Sunday school for the vases on the pulpit. Every now and then she would get some from my aunts but they usually were from her gardens. I think her favorite color was lavender but I will make the quilt blue and yellow as that will tie in with my new coilor scheme for the house!!Yes, I am redecorating the house. That will be for a later post!!!

Well, I guess I have rambled on enough for today. Have a blessed day and take care. Pam

Meet Miss Missy!!!

Have I properly introduced you all to Miss Missy? Well here she is...I just love her so much. She does embroidery too. I have to admit that I am not very up on that part of the machine. I just love the features on her. I wish I had a little girl to sew pretty dresses for.

Right now I am concentrating on bunnies. I am convinced that if I make them spring will come. Let's hope I am right on this assumption.

I have been buying lots of seeds and can't wait till next month when I can start to plant them for seedlings. I am not getting as excited as I did last year as I put too many out too early and had a lot of frozen little plants.I have learned my lesson though, patience is a virtue you know.

Has everyone heard of the new trend...shopping smartly? Hey, I guess I have been cooler than I thought!!I never dreamed that shopping sales and using coupons would become a trend, for me it's an everyday way of life.

Well, enough on my ramblings, I will try and post pocs of my bunny family sometime this week.
Until then, have a blessed day. pam
